When do the Surf Sports Nipper Training Camps take place?
All Surf Sports Nipper Training camps take place through the school holidays between October to May.
What does my child need to bring to the Surf Sports Nipper Training Camps?
- Wetsuit
- Swimming Cap & goggles
- Water bottle & snack
- Sun Cream & Sunhat
- Warm dry clothes for after the camp
How long are the Surf Sports Nipper Training Camps?
The camps run for 4 days, Monday – Thursday. When enrolling for the week, you have the following options:
- 4 Full days: 9am – 4pm
- 4 Half Days: either in the morning session (9am – 12pm) or the afternoon session (1 – 4pm)
Where do the Surf Sports Nipper Training Camps take place?
All sessions run out of Bondi Beach unless contacted otherwise. Participants should meet 15 minutes prior to the start of the session in the car park of the northern end of the Bondi Beach parking along Campbell Parade, by a Bronte Nipper trailer.
Are parents required to stay for the duration of the camp?
No, Mermaid Swim Academy provide adequate water safety in accordance with SLSA’s coaching and water safety guidelines and insurance requirements so parents can leave and return for pick up at 12pm.
Does my child have to be a member of a surf club?
No, the Surf Sports Nipper Training Camps are designed to cater for all levels and abilities – Nipper members or not!
Does my child have to provide their own board?
No, boards are provided for the camps however if children wish to bring their own board they are more than welcome.

When do swimming lessons run?
Our swim school operates from October through to the end of May. We offer lessons on weekday mornings and afternoons (apart from Thursday) as well as Saturday mornings.
How long are your swimming lessons?
All of our Learn to Swim classes run for 30 minutes
Our Mini Squad runs for 45 minutes.
Development, Advanced Development & Fitness Squad run for 60 minutes.
How large are you classes?
Our class size depends on your child’s swim level.

Can my child participate in a trial class?
Yes, if we have spaces available in a class of your child’s swim level we can offer you to join the class for a casual lesson ($40).

How much is pool entry?
Pool Entry is separate to all swimming fees and is paid directly to the pool.
Can my child join your swimming lessons mid way through your term?
Yes, we offer prorated enrolments throughout the term for all of our swimming lessons.
Are makeups available if we cannot make a lesson?
Mermaid Swim Academy has a no make up policy. However, if you let us know in advance that you will be missing a lesson and on the off chance there is a space available in another class we would be able to offer this to you.
Are lessons cancelled if it is raining?
Lessons run RAIN, HAIL, SURF, SHINE. Even in the event of impending thunderstorms or predicted huge surf, assume lessons are on. You will be contacted if lessons need to be cancelled and missed lessons will be rescheduled for each student during the current term.
